Wow how time flies, I cannot believe that it has been nearly a month since I posted on here. I must have been busier than I thought. Do you ever have times like this?
My Summer/Autumn Markets have finished as of last weekend now I am making sure I have enough stock in hand ready for when we finish our holiday break and the Spring Fairs and Markets start again in August. While I am away enjoying a well earned rest for a few weeks my soaps will be happily drying ready for labelling and shrink wrapping when I get back.
We haven't decided where to go for our break as yet as we need to be able to get back home for a week to attend appointments for health follow ups and such so will more than likely be within a few hours of travel from home. There will be one trip to Mackay at the beginning then home then off again for a couple of more weeks. I had planned to tour the Hunter Valley area but will keep that for another time I guess.
I think Winter has finally arrived here as the nights are cold and we have had a couple of frosts but lovely days after the frosts. However there are those horrible winds reportedly coming up in a few days so will need to get my Lip Balms made ready. I use the Lip Scrub once a week and have a Lip Balm or several in my handbags and in the car as well as a stash of NQR ones in the fridge waiting to be used up. I am in the process of making a new batch with new labelling ie smaller so that you don't have to tear the label to break the seal. Each one will then be sealed in a shrink wrap tube that has perforations so that the top can be removed easily. Hopefully this will be more presentable and solve my problem of the labels not wanting to stick to the tubes. Win/Win when I get them done.
I have been suffering with terrible Hip and Back pain this week. My own silly fault as spent 2 days sitting on a hard chair at a show last weekend then on Tuesday my garden helper and I decided that we needed to dig the frost bitten sweet potato up as the leaves had all turned black. Well the ground was so hard that the fork would barely push into it but we did manage to get a bucket full of the new sweet potato that a fellow stall holder gifted to me at market. One of them half filled the bucket on its' own as it was so big. Still have the orange sweet potatoes to dig but they should be a little easier as they are growing in a raised garden bed. My turmeric is almost ready to dig up as well but I want to leave it in the ground until I finish my travels and then it will be ready for the Organic Fair that I will be doing.
The garden is looking pretty good now with the attention it has been getting every week. I am so grateful for the help that I get each week as I certainly couldn't do it on my own. We have one bed to go and everything has been re-mulched and fertilised so that on it's own is a big plus. We will be planting out some Day Lilly's and also adding some more Iris to fill in some spaces where my old ones did not survive plus later on all the orchids will need repotting. Never a dull moment in the garden is there.
Mac and Megz are doing well. Megz has really settled in and is now protecting the house by letting me know when anyone comes near the gates. She has filled out and looks really good in the 6 months I have had her. I am sure she has a food fetish as she will eat from Mac's dish first then come back to her dish as well. I swap the food around and put half his and half hers in each dish as she doesn't eat some of the more chunkier food so that is for Mac. It will be interesting to see how she likes the van when we go away as she hasn't been in it yet. I am sure she will be fine after the first few hours as she doesn't like car travel but settles down after awhile.
Well that is all for now so take care and be kind to each other.
Blessings
