Well I have been so busy that I decided to take a break and sit down with a nice glass of iced tea so that I could catch up on my Ramblings. I am trying to be very disciplined in getting my work done so each morning before breakfast I spend an hour out in the garden trying to tidy it up. At present I am pulling some horrible high grass I call it crows feet as it has a seed head that looks like it has toes on it anyway it is really on the neighbours place but so close to the fence it doesn't matter I just want to get it out. I am also pruning those purple centred daisies as they have finished flowering and are very leggy so a good chop back and some feeding and they will be blooming again soon.
After breakfast it is housework time and this week I have been moving the furniture and steam mopping all the floors. didn't know my house was so big so ended up splitting it into a couple of days as was to much for my poor back after all the bending in the garden. Anyway it is all done and most of the curtains have been washed and rehung as well. Go me.
Once all that is done then I have time to go into the soap room and get any orders done and start making whatever is planned on the calendar for that day. Lately it has been guest soaps as have had two large orders to fill and still going on them but also have been making logs of Soap to cut into bars for the Market boxes. The most popular bar soap seems to still be my plain Goat Milk with Lemon Myrtle and Peppermint followed by Lavender Goats Milk. Also all the plain Milk Soap Shapes.
My Bugs Away Lotion is another popular product especially at this time of the year as the bugs are driving me insane and it would seem everyone else as well. I made a mistake the other day and went out to water the garden late afternoon without rubbing some on my legs. Something got into my sock and stung me but I couldn't find anything when I looked. I think it was a green ant but whatever it was I now have a huge hard lump on the side of my calf and it is inflamed. I have been using some of my healing balms on it to stop it itching and the swelling is starting to go down but there is still a lump about egg size. Would like to know what it was though.
I made my Christmas cake this week also. Oh boy it sure smelt nice through out the house will now make another one and then do a pudding as well. The mix I do for the pudding is huge so I split it in two and share this and the 2nd cake with a friend as she hates to cook where as I love it.
With the hot weather starting up in earnest now just a reminder to put water out for our feathered and furry friends so they have something to drink as well. I have dishes under trees and in the gardens through out my yard and it is lovely to watch all the birds coming in. Some just for a quick stop over while others that live ere in the trees take leisurely baths. The magpies believe in communal baths as there was four of them in one bowl the other day while the squeakies like to bath solo. Even an old Ibis comes in and drinks from the plant saucer under the stand. I love to see him here as he sticks his big beak down the holes in the bricks that line the garden beds and gets grubs out. Organic control to a T.
Well that is enough of a ramble for today. Take Care and look after each other.
Blessings
